Library  Cards are FREE and may be used at the library in  English.
To obtain a Library Card, bring proof that you live in Crawford County and a photo ID with your current address..
If you don’t reside in Crawford County and would like a  Library Card  the following fees apply.

Non-Resident Fee for a Family Card is $25.00.

Public Library Access Card- PLAC
PLAC cards are also available for $65.00. This can be used  anywhere in Indiana.
PLAC cards are good for one year from date of purchase.
You must be an Indiana Resident to apply for a PLAC card.

Adopted by  the Library Board July 29th, 2008.

The library has 8 public access computers for adults and 2 for children. The computers for adults have Microsoft Office 2021 installed. Internet Usage Agreement. The library provides fast Internet using Fiber Optics.  Our Internet is filtered in compliance to the Children’s Internet Protection Act. (CIPA)

The library offers free Wi-Fi

  • The library has Wi-Fi available 24/7.
  • Our Internet service is provided by ENA which serves libraries and schools in Indiana and Tennessee.
  • Our Internet is provided using Fiber Optics.
  • Wi-Fi is available inside the library and in our parking lot.

Hotspots are available throughout the building. Your device will connect to the one nearest you.

We have several laptop chairs and couches for your convenience.
We also have a table near the magazines, two near the young adult section,  and one in the computer lab that can be used for laptops.
We currently have 3 new tables for up to six people in the computer lab for your convenience.

The library has an extensive collection of historical documents that  will help in your genealogy research.

The Crawford County Historical and Genealogical Society Web site is located at www.cchgs.org

Newspaper Archives  – English News Messenger, Crawford County Democrat, and The Clarion.

Cemetery records include a list of  cemeteries in the county, including maps, directions and often a  listing of names and dates of grave sites.

There are a limited number of Death Records indexed from records of the Crawford County Health Department

Looking for a book that the  library does not have?  Ask the library staff about the Inter-Library Loan policy.  For the cost of shipping (usually  free) the Crawford County Public Library can get the book you need by borrowing it from  another library in the state. The book is shipped directly to CCPL for you.  Library staff will call you when your requested material  arrives.  Check with the library staff for more details about this  great service.
